BUILT FROM THE GROUND UP
ARENA DESIGN, CONSTRUCTION, & CARE

A safe, consistent arena begins long before the footing is installed. From initial layout and drainage planning through final grading and footing installation, Stony Rock develops arenas around the land, the intended discipline, the horses who will use them, and long term maintenance needs. We also improve existing arenas through grading, drainage correction, resurfacing, and footing work.

WE KNOW OUR SAND

Not all sand is the same, and not every sand belongs in a riding arena. Particle size, shape, angularity, depth, moisture, and blending all influence traction, stability, drainage, impact, rideability, and long term performance. We understand how sand, screenings, additives, and blended materials work together to create footing suited to your horses and the way you ride.

AN INFORMED APPROACH

When an arena needs a more specialized solution, Stony Rock can collect a representative four cup footing sample and submit it to Premier Equestrian for professional analysis. Premier offers one complimentary sand analysis and report to help identify problems with the existing surface, evaluate compatibility with footing additives, and guide decisions about moisture, maintenance, and dust control.

The findings help determine whether the existing footing can be improved with an additive, would benefit from a sand and screenings blend, or requires a different approach. For new arenas, the analysis can also help identify what to request from a local quarry before purchasing sand.

As a Premier Equestrian approved contractor, Stony Rock can coordinate professionally designed footing systems tailored to the arena’s use, site conditions, and performance goals.

MAKE THE BEST OF WHAT YOU HAVE

A complete replacement is not always necessary. The right additive, material blend, grading correction, or maintenance plan may significantly improve the footing already in place. We evaluate the arena as a complete system and recommend the solution that makes the most practical sense.

Safe. Consistent. Rideable.

Whether we are building a new arena, improving existing footing, or bringing a neglected riding space back into service, our goal remains the same: a safe, effective surface designed for horses and the people who work with them.
