FARM & PROPERTY SERVICES
Stony Rock Farm & Property Services provides practical land improvements for farms, homesteads, and rural properties. Our work includes land clearing, grading, drainage solutions, gravel pads, and riding surface preparation designed to make properties safer, more functional, and easier to manage. Every project is approached from the perspective of people who work the land ourselves, focusing on solutions that hold up to the real demands of farm and rural life.

Small- to mid-scale land projects well suited for compact equipment:
• Brush clearing and small tree removal
• Pasture reclamation and overgrowth control
• Opening access areas and trails
• Site preparation for barns and structures
• Clearing space for paddocks, arenas, or improvements
• Projects well suited for compact equipment and efficient site work
Land Clearing &
Site Prep
We clear brush, small trees, and overgrowth to open up usable space and prepare land for new projects. Whether you’re reclaiming pasture, creating access roads or driveways, or preparing a site for construction, proper clearing lays the foundation for everything that follows.

Grading & Drainage
Water management is one of the most important parts of maintaining healthy land. We shape and grade terrain to improve drainage, reduce mud, and protect high-traffic areas so your property holds up through every season.
Barn Drainage Improvement – Flood Mitigation for Horse Barn
A Recent Stony Rock Project

The Problem
This barn experienced repeated flooding during heavy rain events. Surface and subsurface water naturally flowed toward the uphill side of the structure, allowing water to collect along the barn wall and enter the barn during heavy storms. Over time, this type of water accumulation will lead to mud, structural wear, and poor footing around the barn.
The Solution
A drainage swale was installed and the area along the barn wall was regraded to redirect surface runoff away from the structure and prevent water from entering beneath the wall during heavy rain. Work focused on establishing positive drainage away from the barn rather than collecting along the foundation.
At the owner's request, the area was left to naturally reestablish grass rather than reseeding or making additional aesthetic changes.

Result
Surface water now flows away from the barn rather than collecting along the wall during rain events. The improved drainage reduces flooding risk, helps the area dry more quickly after storms, and provides better long-term protection for the barn foundation and surrounding footing.

Livestock Infrastructure & Property Improvements

Some of the projects we help with include:

• Fencing installation and repairs
• Stall reclamation and improvement
• LightHoof grid installation for paddocks and high-traffic areas
• Gate installation and access improvements

• Paddock and working area improvements

Stall Reclamation
Over time, stalls become uneven, dug out, and hold moisture, especially when rubber mats are involved.
Done correctly, stall reclamation restores proper grade and footing by removing saturated or compromised material, pulling and replacing mats only when needed, rebuilding the base, and re-leveling beneath rubber mats before reset. Once reset, stall mats are safely secured to extend stall life and improve mat performance.

The result:
A stall your horse can step back into safely and comfortably

• Brush cutting and overgrowth control
• Maintaining access lanes and field edges
